The bad news, as discussed on Pat Morrison today, is that in 40 years we'll have to eat bugs or starve. The good news is the process by which insects can be put into pastes to spare us rough texture of scratchy limbs.
So perhaps this insect paste will be integrated into our high-protein grasshopper Pop Tarts.
In any event, I am not new to eating insects. As a lifelong lover of honey, I have been consuming insect excrement for several decades.
Just so we are all on the same page, here is the story Jeff mentioned:

However, the good news is that honey is excrement free -- at least according to something I read on the Internet (and the Internet never is wrong is it?)

So from a scientific standpoint, honey is not as scatological as I had once thought.

If you've ever eaten a slice of bread, there's a good chance you've eaten insect parts. The combines and other farm equipment used to harvest wheat pick up insects with the wheat----by the boatload. The insects are ground up with the wheat. That delicious piece of enriched white bread you just smeared peanut butter on probably has grasshopper legs in it.

Honey is technically bee vomit.
Anyway, here's a funny blog post I came across--
