I really struggled when I bought my GS350DL. Even with the discount and getting it for under $70 at Radio Shack it didn't take any longer than a day to decide that the build quality was so poor that it wasn't worth keeping. The tuner switch felt so cheap that I swore I would break it in less than a month.

In contrast, I ended up exchanging it for the S450DLX and with the exception of breaking the telescopic antenna I've been pretty happy with it. The only things that bothered me is that one tuner switch felt as cheap as on the 350, and the coaxial power jack is somewhat sloppy. Other than that, I prefer the 450 over the 350.

As an FYI: Eton let me know the replacement antenna for the 450 is the same one used on the 350.

Thanks for your thoughtful response to my question. My CCR-SW is (thankfully) a terrific performer and it has no cosmetic flaws worth mentioning. Compared to my CCR-EP and Sangean PR-D5, the SW's AM performance is almost as good and its FM performance is noticeably better. Therefore, it would appear there is no compelling reason to buy a Grundig S350DL despite the attractive price and the slightly better sound quality.

Thanks again!

Grundig S350 is .... a radio with good sound, nothing else buy it if it cost less than 50, mine cost 10 Dls in Ebay.

Neither my S350 nor my Redsun rp2100 (OEM version of the CCR SW) has ever given me any trouble, and I've had both for several years now. Both have good speaker audio and good to excellent reception on all bands; I slightly prefer the Redsun due to its heavier, more solid feel. It will probably last longer than the flimsy S350.
