In an economy like this it's hard to imagine quitting your high-ranking job. But that's what former NPR reporter Andrea Seabrook did.
She explained today on KPCC's Brand and Martinez that the "false debates," political theater, and BS was too much to bear. She'd rather uncover the real truth of Washington politics in her new blog and podcast Decoding DC.
A tip of the hat to Seabrook. I wish her all the success.
Making reference to the results of any study without citing the source of its funding is meaningless. Who funded this study?

The above comment was intended for the post about pot which follows this one.
Where NPR are concerned I have noticed that there is a definite slant towards Obama and away from Romney. Stands to reason since the Republicans and the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) are natural enemies of NPR. Always seeking to de-fund.
NPR is a valuable resource in that they reach every corner of the nation via terrestrial broadcasting. Much of their programming is too bland. Too many movie reviews and reports about arcane books.
If they were free to program more creatively they would present serious competition to the NAB.

Ever since Andrea Seabrook's report on a new airport body scanner that enables the user to see through clothes whenever I hear her voice on NPR all I can think of is imagining how Ms. Seabrook looks sans clothes. You tell someone to not think about a subject and the consequence is that is ALL one thinks about. See the last sentence of this "All Things Considered" transcript.

it is a complete mystery to me why these left-leaning stations are having such problems.
First KGO and now NPR. Go figure.
