My CCradio-SW is my best FM performer by far. You can't even hear FM hiss through the earbuds on KPCC. I can't say that about my other radios. Also my 2011 model has a better, "mellow" (to use Gary's term) sound than the 2009 model I once owned. I mention this in response to Gary giving us an update on his CCRadio-SW replacement:
I received my replacement CCRadio-SW from Amazon. This one is much more sensitive than the defective unit on MW AM -- it's about the same as the one I bought in 2009.
The tuning is off on the replacement unit, as it was with the first unit. Stations on MW sound best when tuned 1 kHz low, and the signal falls off much faster when tuning above the station's frequency than below it. Surely there must be a way to adjust this internally.
I noticed that the sound of the replacement unit is more full and mellow than it is on the 2009 unit, with more bass and less midrange (this is with the tone controls centered on both radios). This is fine by me, as it's actually more pleasant to listen to. My 2009 CCRadio-SW does have a prominent midrange, sometimes too much so.
The reception quality on FM of the replacement unit and the 2009 unit seem to be about the same, which is to say quite good.
One minor cosmetic flaw on the replacement unit: the LCD display is mounted at a slight angle, going up from left to right.

Speaking of raising the price, the CCRadio-SW is up to $139.95 today at Amazon, almost $50 more than I paid just three weeks ago.

Brother printers, at least from my experience, are real workhorses. I've had fewer problems with Brother than any other brand.

On the topic of the CCRadio-SW, I purchased one recently at the sub $91.00 price and I am pleased with its sensitivity, especially on FM, and AM and SW are very good, as well. The SW's sound is outstanding for a portable radio and it doesn't fatigue me to have it playing in the house for hours on end. QC appears to be good, too, with only tiny blemishes that are too small to complain about. It is a very agreeable radio and a bargain, to boot.
