I agree with Paul. How about at least using contrasting colors for the knobs, buttons and speaker grilles?
It looks like everything was painted one color with a spray can.

Yes, it's cheezy, but after all it is a boombox. That thing on the other hand..I'm not sure what to make of that.

Uglier than ugly. I'll side with Keith B. and just state that it's hideous.
Then again, go into any electronics store and peruse the dwindling "boombox" offerings. All of them are pretty homely; for some reason, manufacturers have decided that making a boombox look like the head of an alien insect will somehow drive sales. Yeah, down.
