Didn't they learn with the complete failure of the Grundig G2 and others like it?

I must admit, unfortunately, $69 shipped is still too high of a price for this radio. I feel like Degen engineers stopped working on the design after they decided they could cut a profit from it as-is. I'm sure the DSP chip could be better implemented. May work fine for the casual listener, not a radio hobbyists choice, though. Much better alternatives for the same price (less the MP3 functionality).

DSP is way overrated, never seen a single radio station a DSP chipped radio pulled in that a non-DSP radio couldn't in the same class. In fact, my Grundig G5 beats the pants off the Tecsun 660 in AM reception. DSP is just a fancy term to sell more radios.
