Doug Gotlieb wore his polite hat this morning and would not say anything bad about his former employer ESPN. But Dan Patrick used the interview to say that ESPN goes out of its way to make its former employees fail so that current ESPN employees will remain intimidated and kept in their place.
Patrick also accused ESPN of being petty, shallow, and concerned with nothing but ratings. He contemplated divulging the true evil of the ESPN managers who had acriminious discussions with Patrick before he abandoned the Mothership, but Patrick said it would be cowardly to spill the beans on the air, that he would rather tell those ESPN managers to their face the scorn he feels for them.

Wow, what a reality show that would be---Dan Patrick confronting the ESPN managers to dress them down. Problem is----he'll never get the chance. I know their type----cowards. They're sort of like the character in Titanic who was the White Star Cruise Line Marketing guy----all bravado, pushing for the ship to make it ahead of schedule. When events turned tragic, he dressed as a woman to get in a lifeboat. In my opinion, that character represents the collective "management" at ESPN that Dan Patrick would love to rail against.

Herc, I just have one question: Dodgers or Angels? (You live in LA, right?)
I've never lived in LA, but have been a long-time Angels fans, going back about 30 years. I'm a bit bummed now, but take solace in the living revelation that is Mike Trout.

I should be a Dodgers fan because when visiting my cousin in the early 70s he took me to Dodgers games but I am an Angels fan as their players from Vlad Guerro to the now Mike Trout and their manager Mike Sciosa have always intrigued me more than Dodgers players. In the early 1970s was the enigmatic Alex Johnson.
What city do you teach in?

No city, I teach at a small private high school in the boonies of NH. I just started a graduate program in psych and plan on going that route in the future, but who knows. I lived for years in Portland OR and hope to move back in a year or two. I'm definitely a west coast guy stuck on the east coast. Long story.
