My Invicta Subaqua Specialty is dead. The movement doesn't work. Battery is full. Watch is barely a year old. Warranty from Amazon shot. My watch keeper says to fix it will cost me $150. I said forget it. Keep the watch and use parts for your business. You've been good to me. That's my worst watch fiasco. I should consider myself lucky.
You probably could have sold the bracelet for $50-75, and maybe the whole watch "as is" for about $100.
I had a similar, but less severe, situation with my 0507. I ordered from an Ebay seller out of Ebay - we negotiated a lower price and I paid for it. I didn't notice until more than a month that the day-of-the-week dial didn't work. A local watch shop said he'd have to send it to Invicta - I think the movement on most Invictas requires the whole thing being replaced. The seller wasn't very amenable and blamed me. I just got tired of trying and so I'm left with a defective watch.
That said, everything else works fine and the watch looks great so I'm going to keep it and wear it on occasion. I don't like the fact that the one dial doesn't work, but I guess it is a reminder not to buy from an Ebay seller outside of Ebay.

Truth be told, the date function on my watches is too big of a pain in the ___ for me to keep resetting (when the month doesn't have 31 days). I don't pay attention to that function on most of my watches----except the digitals that have a built-in memory and I never need to reset.
As for this watch----it's unacceptable. Cheap watches given away at trade shows last longer than this. Is it possible it got magnetized somehow? A jeweler I use sometimes----demagnetized a watch for me that wasn't running (and that had a good battery). It started working again----and I think it cost me about fifteen or twenty bucks for him to do that.

I wore the watch 3 times in the 15 months I had it. I paid $380 for it albeit I used $100 Amazon coupon.
I was just about to sell it because of I hardly wore it. I'm glad I didn't sell it. My sterling eBay rating would have gone down and/or I would have lost shipping money twice. I sold it a few months ago and the buyer returned it at my cost because the date didn't work. What a fiasco.

Needless to say, I'm not in any kind of Invicta buying mood right now.

I feel your pain - I've had some bad Invicta quality experiences as well, as I've shared. The top few watches on my queue are all Seiko or Pulsar.
That said, I think you should assuage your pain by treating yourself to a Seiko SNAD35. Check it out here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SEIKO-CHRONOGRAPH-ALARM-DATE-STAINLESS-STEEL-MENS-WATCH-SNAD35-NEW-/261115021364
Its available for $148 on Amazon.
I'm probably going to get the blue dial SNAD33P1 ($140) and maybe the SNAD37, although the latter is about a hundred dollars more. I just posted on the SNAD line for Seiko - some great watches and all pretty affordable.

I just had a new battery put in my Krug-Baumen Challenger at lunch today. The crystal has a tiny hairline crack near 12:30----hardly noticeable. They told me they can send it out for crystal replacement----for $25.00. I don't wear this watch in the water----but still might go for the new crystal at that low price. Just in case rain gets on it or it otherwise accidentally is immersed in water----it might be a good investment.

I'm going on a watch buying hiatus until after the new year and I'll sell another half dozen Invictas. That should start the healing process.

Now you're overreacting! With the holiday season right around the corner----how can you not treat yourself to a new watch or three, and write about them/show photos here? Does this mean you'll step up with a new radio purchase soon? Have I mentioned that I have a business contact who has an Invicta (nice large one) and that the bezel ring dropped off somewhere and is missing? He doesn't remember striking anything----just suddenly noticed that it was gone. I told him a jeweler might be able to find a generic ring of some sort to affix----or maybe can order one from Invicta, though I have a feeling that would cost more than the watch is worth or at least would cost too much. If there is a part the jeweler has or can get cheaply that will fit the diameter----they can probably make it look nice for very little money.

To quote Luke Skywalker towards a mournful C3PO: "What kind of talk is that?"
I hear you, but...well, rather than being verbose, you'll get over it.

Yeah, I'll lick my wounds for a while and when I find another watch that I "have" to own, I'll pull the trigger.

It's depressing. Just depressing.

I've recently had a look at the Seiko SRP line of watches using the newish 4r35/36 automatic movements. I haven't pulled the trigger yet on one, but I love the ability to handwind and hack the movement. I've probably had a dozen or so of the Seiko 7s26 movements in various iterations, but the thing I never liked was I could never handwind the thing. This is a more usable movement for someone that has multiple watches and can't wear everyone every day. Here's an example from Amazon - about 41mm across (almost perfect size) with a somewhat funky bezel:
