About 44 across the bezel and 52mm across the entire case, the black gunmetal Seiko SKZ267K1 with self-winding automatic, $232 on Amazon with tax, is my third Seiko and second automatic watch.
I like the connection I feel with an automatic watch unlike the disconnection I feel wearing a qaurtz. I'll probably put 3 or 4 watches for sale soon to make room for this new Seiko and to give it lots of wrist time.
I'll provide photos and impressions soon.
It looks very promising. I'm still on the fence about going "full in" to automatics. Remember----you also gave reasons previously why there are some major advantages to quartz movements. And for the record, Seiko quartz watches might be the best available anywhere, within a reasonable price point.

Nice bold choice - I've never seen that watch. You're like a sneaky baseball GM - you swoop in at the last moment and make a move, without any previous signs. I look forward to the pictures.

I should say that because my watch dealer works on Seikos, I feel emboldened to get Seiko movements.
I wore a gunmetal Ocean Reef today to work. I didn't "feel" it. It wasn't me. Something Seiko has happened to me. Weird.

Very nice power supply; according to the seller, it has been "tasted" and works great!

Yeah - once you get bit by the Seiko bug, it's hard to resist. I feel both Seiko and Citizen give the best bang for the buck in the watch world. Lots of choices, robust quality movements, and excellent quality control make for a good company.

Given my year and a half of Invictahood, my Seikofication is weird; given your six years of Invictahood, your Seikofication is beyond weird.
But I hear you. There is a different feel to Seiko and Invicta. The question I have, though, is will our "Seikoness" change too? You're more gung-ho than I--I still enjoy my Invictas and have a couple Pulsars and other watches on my wishlist--but this might have to do with "time served" in Invictahood. But do you think that, in four or five years, you'll be over Seiko and onto something else? Who knows, of course, but it is worth pondering.

If I were rich, I could move on to Benarus or some other high priced brand, but I doubt that's in the works. I was beholden to Invicta for 6 years and the spell wore off. My Black Monster was the catalyst.

One thing about Invicta though----at least my impression----is that they are constantly bringing out new models and new designs, almost limitless combinations of colors/materials/finishes. I might be wrong----but I view Seiko as being more conservative in this regard----great watches but fewer choices and less new activity. Does that matter? Not really, but there is a certain excitement with Invicta----everything from the Sunday Run to the Shop NBC appearances.

Here you go Jeff----a Benarus for under fifty bucks and it looks nice. Oh wait----did I say Benarus? I meant Benrus. (Hasn't Benrus been around a lot longer than Benarus?)
Posted by: Angelo | October 30, 2012 at 07:02 AM
Is Benrus a knockooff of Benarus? Not a bad looking watch.
Posted by: herculodge | October 30, 2012 at 07:08 AM
No, in reality, I would say Benarus is the one coming to the party late. Hasn't Benrus been around forever? I would have never picked the name Benarus (unless I'm wrong, and they predate Benrus).
