Reliable. Check. Looks good. Check. Good gas mileage. Check. Allows you to pretend you're sitting in a BMW 5 Series albeit without the exciting driving dynamics. Check.
I haven't wanted a car like the new Honda Accord Sedan Sport in a very long time (internet photos don't do it justice). To add to my temptation, I notice a local dealership is selling them for about $23,600.
Probably have to wait though. My 07 Maxima only has 43K on the odometer.

It has some driving dynamics; Honda recently redid the suspension tuning to make the car feel lighter, more like a traditional old-school Honda. And the CVT transmission is supposedly the best one out there, adding a bit of luxury to the experience. Excellent choice, even if you're not officially choosing it yet..

They need to tread carefully. The Accord has traditionally been a family hauler. This one looks fantastic----but the short decklid concerns me. It looks shorter than a shoebox. If it's a hatchback, dandy. But I suspect that it's not. If I'm right---what type of trunk space and trunk access does this have?

Angelo, it's a traditional trunk with 16 cf, which is more than our 12 Accord. We have 2 young boys, and can haul 4-5 days of stuff with a pack-n-play and stroller. Plenty of room in the trunk and in the cabin. The 200hp 4 does really well cruising and gets 30 when doing 80 across the mountain west. We still use the Subaru for camping and winter.
The new Fusion was on my list but I couldn't wait another 3 months, and the Accord EXL was 9k off sticker. I do wish the suspension was a little firmer like the Legend it replaced.

J.M.: How big is the trunk opening? Big enough to swallow large items? The car is gorgeous. For the record, one of my cars is a 2004 Saab 9-5 wagon, with a 220 HP 4 cylinder turbo----just measured city mileage at 22 MPG and on the highway, it does a little better than 30 (about 31 last time I checked). It has a large cargo capacity and a roof rack (that I've never needed to use). Seats 4 very comfortably, though I wouldn't want to be the fifth person in the back middle position. It's been very reliable too----though for the first time, this year, seems when it gets cold overnight, it takes two tries to start it instead of one turn of the key. Not sure what that's all about----hopefully something minor. I don't plan to have it checked unless it gets worse. I miss Saab. I hope they come back to the U.S. A new company bought them.

Oh, and you mention a Legend. Acura needs to come back with that name! That might be the best car name ever.

My first car was a 90 Integra, replaced by the Legend. Both superb cars. We replaced my wife's first car (84 760 GLE) with the Subaru. I hope the Accord keeps up with all the others in terms on long life... Not certain about the Outback but its great for Idaho. My in laws are Saabadists, fun to drive and do excel in varying conditions with that tall 5th gear. They too have a 95 wagon, bought used for 10k at the local Toyota dealer. Great condition 2008 with 30k miles. Bankruptcy is great when you're buying used! Still easy to fix as its basically all GM components underneath.
The opening does seem to be big enough and pretty low liftover. Its much better than newer swoopy midsizers I've rented. The backseat is pretty wide, 3 adults or 3 carseats across, no problem. I really liked the TSX wagon but its a bit tighter.

I had a 91 Acura Integra RS. I loved it. I like the styling of the TSX wagon but it seems overpriced.

It does seem overpriced, especially since all the features I'd want came in the Accord.
I should add, I bought the Accord in Houston and drove it back to Boise in 2 days. Never got sore and other than a bit of tire noise on certain surfaces, a great cruiser. And visibility was superb too, something that several new cars are lacking. I can't imagine Honda diminishing this with the 13.

If I read correctly, the 2013 has a bigger trunk. The only car I like is the Infiniti M37. A used one would cost me about 35K, more than I'd spend most likely.
