Regarding my post in which I berate myself for wasting six years spending money on cheap costumer jewelry posing as watches before I discovered the great Seiko brand, Angelo writes:
I get your analogy----for sure, the Seikos are all business and the Invictas (and some other brands) are style first/timepiece second. But I think you should look at it this way: "Experience" is the only way to live life----and your many Invicta purchases were not mistakes. Those watches brought you pleasure and served as a bridge to where you are now. "Knowing what you know now" and depriving yourself of experiencing the change of taste first hand----would not be a good thing, it would be a bad thing.
Good stuff, although I don't quite agree that "Seikos are all business and Invicta are style first, timepiece second." I think the latter is true, but Seiko are hardly "all business." I'd say the Seiko sense of style is simply more refined, mature even. Invicta is more in your face - more Miami Beach to Seiko's urban chic.

Seiko makes some manly watches. The Black Monster and the SUN997 should be in the hall of fame.

Agreed. And on radios----the other addiction with this blog----for the longest time, I avoided tube radios because they were "those old radios that are a lot of trouble." For some reason----I decided to bid on an inexpensive 1950s era Zenith tuber----and was blown away by the sound. My late wife, who didn't like my "radio clutter" in the house, even loved the looks of it----and told me to "leave it in the living room----it actually looks good!" After that, I spent more money on larger sets, including one I had to have shipped from Germany (now in our guest bedroom). Being willing to stray from our tastes opens doors to new adventures. That doesn't mean I don't still love my solid state vintage radios (or even new ones) but the tubers round things out. And yes, I have sold radios to buy new ones (and watches), like you are doing now. Got to fund the hobby and try in vain to cut down on the clutter. On watches---I admit to still loving attention, positive and even skeptical, when I wear the big guns. First and foremost, they're for me----but when someone comments on one of my watches, I do get satisfaction from that.

I'm not a radio enthusiast but I follow your line of thinking, Angelo; actually, I think there are certain principles common to all forms of obsessions/addictions/collecting/hobbies.
Jeff, I assume you mean the SUN007? I'm curious: Do you like the SUN007 more than the SKZ267?
While we're at it, what's your current weekly rotation looking like? I've worn my SSC015 non-stop since getting it five days ago, but will probably start rotating other watches in again.

I meant the SUN007. I've never worn one so I don't know how I'd compare it to the SKZ267. Both are similar so it doesn't surprise me I like both similarly. On Friday through Sunday I wear my autos (I'm off work those days) and during Monday through Thursday I wear them at home, but at work I rotate the others, hard to tell which ones have priority. It's arbitrary.
