The Benarus Megalodon 500 is on hold but still not purged from my system. I prefer Seiko because I assume, wrongly or not, that I don't have to service the watch for 20 years or so if at all.
I am drawn to the following:
Swiss Army Black Ice Dive Master 241424, which starts around the low $700 range.
Seiko Velatura SNDA59, which is around $450.
Seiko SRH001, which is around $600.
Orient Revolver, which is around $650.

That's a nice group of watches. Seems like you're peeking into the semi-luxury level. I'd go for that SNDA59 first - really nice.
Even though the Revolver is the #1 object of my obsession--especially the blue dial one, but also the black--I'm not even putting it on my wishlist because it is so far out of range. I'm probably going to put together a semi-luxury "Dream List" of watches over $500 that I hope to get some day.

Jonny, the Revolver I believe is nonhack, nonwind. You might want to get a winder if you're going to get another auto.

That Victorinox is one heck of a hunk of a watch.
Looks beautiful in stainless finish. If I had some spare cash I'd buy one.
But I have to save my cash to service my Rolex Sea-Dweller.
It's going to set me back about 500 bucks.
That's just plain wrong..... But I am a watch snob from way back.
The Victorinox looks nicer than the Megalodon. (IMHO)
You'd wear it well.

500 for a Rolex service. Now that is serious cash.

Jeff: I paid over $600.00 (I think closer to 700) to have my wife's Rolex serviced a few years ago. I believe that included a new crystal.

No crystal for me Angelo. My watch is in 98% condition, but the movement needs oiling and whatever Rolex Service, 5th Avenue, NY deems necessary.
I won't send that watch to anybody but Rolex.
My fear is excessive metal removal when refinishing the case and bracelet.
Beautiful watches but they cost a lot of dough to own.
I understand why people shy away from them.
