Best gym memberships (if they still exist) are at nice hotels. That's right----I had one of these in the 1980s. Many nice properties have a decent work-out room that is way underutilized. Sometimes, to offset the cost, they offer "gym membership" for a very reasonable price, that is month to month. I had one at the Crowne Plaza in Rockville, Maryland. Low price, cancel anytime----and also get use of the hotels pools, inside and/or outdoors. Crowne Plaza had a great indoor pool. Extra bonus: Crowne Plaza also had a restaurant with a very generous bartender, lots of TV sets with sports playing and excellent wings and fries. After a brief workout and a swim, I enjoyed a dozen wings, fries and a brewski.

That's almost two-thirds of the way towards a Tuna, Jeff.

Kettle-bells are great. I have a fairly light twenty pounder but the way you manipulate it feels so natural. I got mine on sale because I don't think a simple lump of iron should cost as much as these things do, and I hate the vinyl and sand versions.

I own 2 15lb sand/vinyl ones, a gift ,so I can't complain. I just bought an iron 25lb one coated in black vinyl, which I assume protects the floor if I drop it. I also have a 20lb medicine ball with a handle and 3 pairs of dumbbells, 10, 20, and 30 lbs. With this equipment, I can get a brutal workout cycle, which I like to do 4 days a week.
