Are watches, cars and radios inanimate objects? The concensus might say yes, but I say no. To me, not all----but MOST cars, watches and radios have SOULS so to speak----so yes, "neglect" of a watch or "favoring" of one watch over another is clearly understood by me. Your remaining Invictas are shocked and hurt by what's going on beteween you and Seiko. They feel abandoned.
When I sold a Jaguar XJS I couldn't look it in the headlamps while waiting for the cheque to clear, so yes I know what you mean.
As for motorcycles and a 1967 Land Rover that I have had since 1990, they are going nowhere, and they know it.
I think it keeps them reliable!

I just sold a car I've owned for 18 years. It was a little emotional, giving away something that held many memories... My child riding in the back in his little car seat; driving him to school for many years, the talks we had; teaching him to drive it, and how he eventually passed the driving test in it...

Ed: Reminds me of when Archie Bunker got a great offer from an artist/museum for his favorite chair---enough to buy a great new recliner. But once he started thinking about it----he declined. That was the chair that Sammy Davis Jr. sat in, the one Archie sat in when Gloria was a baby, etc. The memories made the object live.
