Bought my first Orient diver about 3months ago...paid about 100.00 thru Amazon. This was to replace a 250.00 Bulova Marine Star that I fought for a few years with major stopping issues. Just would not run for more than a week or two without stopping. Got tired of messing with it...I really wanted it to work as I liked the look and style.

I did not expect much out of the Orient and have been major league impressed with looks, accuracy and apparent quality. I lose no more than a few seconds every couple of weeks max. I will buy another one.

MJ: I recently "overspent" by paying $50.00 for an old Orient "King Diver." I say "overspent" because the battery needed replacement, the crystal was dinged up and the band needed to be replaced---and as you point out, new Orient divers are available for very reasonable prices. But I loved the look of the watch---and in fact, the "patina" on the crystal seems to be consistent with diving wear---so I rather like it as it gives the watch a sense of authenticity/purpose. If I ever want it to look "new" I can have the crystal replaced easily enough. But for now, I have plenty of "perfect" watches and like the fact that this one looks like it's been around some coral! I found a new/old stock Orient metal bracelet from an E-Bay seller in Spain that is perfect for the watch. And the accuracy/quality is excellent. For under $100.00 total, I have a unique, well crafted old watch that is a lot of fun to wear.
