Effective emergency lesson substitute for those days: Get three papers, all done on the same topic, from last year's files. Remove names. Make overhead transparencies or scan for digital projection. Explain what the assignment was and have your students evaluate the papers in terms of the assignment's parameters. Let the kids do the work. As a workshop leader once said, "No wonder teachers are exhausted! You're doing all the work! Teachers should plan, and students should work." You can end up with a classl of substantive discussion about understanding an assignment and evaluating achievement. You can focus separately on the content and the grammatical issues to have a better-organized session. Your students can be reminded of the exercise when you make their next writing assignment, and you can expect better work.

Yet another new large portable all-band radio to be released?

http://bbs.tecsun.com.cn/0002.asp?open=515212

It looks like Eton S450 but with a keyboard and SSB.

It's made by JiDian (the company which makes CC Gozo as well as the meloson m7). It's said someone who used to work at Redsun was involved in developing this new model.

Initially this is for export only (assuming north american market, I wonder under which brand).
