White is the only color I'd consider for the 2013 Honda Accord Sport. I usually don't prefer white, but certain cars benefit from that color. Another is the BMW 3 series coupe.
Back to my budget, the Accord: The only problem I can see is the Accord's turning radius or turning circle, which is about 40 feet. In contrast, the Mazda CX-5 has a turning circle of about 36 feet.
Motor Trend really liked the 2014 Mazda CX-5, with the new 2.5 L engine. For my next vehicle, I'm currently consider this model as well as the 2014 Subaru Forester.

The 2.0 L model has weak acceleration due to its modest horsepower and torque. The stronger 2.5 L model is much quicker and gets almost the same gas mileage.

But the coupe comes with the Porsche backend: http://img1.sm360.ca/ir/w640/images/newcar/2013/honda/accord-coupe/ex/coupe/exteriorColors/2013_honda_accord_coupe_orchidee-blanche-014.png

I love the coupe but with 2 small kids, sedans are my only options.

Jeff, I would also look at the new Mazda6:

Although the new Honda Accord will most likely be more reliable.

Yeah, gotta have room for the little ones; a coupe always feels like half a car once you have to move more than one other person. The aforementioned new Mazda 6 recommendation is a good one, I've walked around a few of them. Interior-wise they're obviously aiming at BMW and not Honda or Toyota, and it's a direct hit..

I'm a big fan of the Mazda 6, a more daring choice over the Accord. The reptilian part of the brain wars against the cortex. Today I saw a family get out of a 2013 Lexus GS350, now that was cool but double what I'd spend on a Mazda 6 or Accord.

This NYT Mazda 6 review praises sportiness but says interior needs major improvement: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/21/automobiles/autoreviews/mazda-6-a-sporty-declaration-of-independence.html?ref=automobiles

I haven't seen the interior of the Mazda6 upfront, but it looks identical to the CX-5 (which I have seen and driven) and I thought the CX-5 interior was actually very nice (simple, elegant, functional).

I'm a Lexus fan, but the GS is a bit of a slouch for its list price; the Ford Taurus SHO is bigger/faster/cheaper, or if you just want the faster part of the equation, there's the Audi S4..

And I'll have to disagree with the New York Times, I haven't sat in any Accord or Camry with an interior like this: http://media.caranddriver.com/images/13q2/511497/2014-mazda-6-i-sport-ip-stack-photo-511644-s-1280x782.jpg

There's also the Ford Fusion:

But I can't decide whether the front grill is hideous, or just moderately ugly. Interior looks ok.

@Paul, looks like they were going for an Aston Martin look with that grill:

The Fusion doesn't look good as a whole to me though I like certain angles. Because I keep cars for a long time, the Accord seems wiser than the more flashy Mazda 6 but I wouldn't make such a decision unless I test-drove them within a day or so.

Your reasoning is why we bought one of the last 2012 Accords, got an EXL for $23k with TTL. 10k miles and still enjoying the car, doesn't stand out in anyway except it ticked all our boxes and is a nice ride and an engine that loves to rev and an intelligent transmission. I like the 2013 a little better, tightened up the styling and handling.
In that 10k, 60% city travel, the average mpg has been 28. Highest was a trip to Portland from Boise, averaged 36 (mostly due to strict enforcement of 65mph limit).
We've only had fluids changed and snow tires swapped on/off... Nothing more and no "annoyance" yet, such as rattles, squeaks, vibrations.
We just dumped our 07 Outback (I bike to work) as it was a headache since the second month we owned it. The Accord serves as our 1 car and we do just fine with being a sedan (I did install a hitch for the bike rack and utility trailer).

I bought the 1st Honda Accords (paid like 4K) sold in America in the mid 1970s, drove the hell out of it and put nearly 250,000 miles on it. In the southwest, white and silver are very popular colors.
