I wonder how high it will go? I love collecting----but generally like using what I collect. Normally, I shy away from auctions like this one. If I bought this radio, I'd almost be afraid to use it. As soon as you begin using it, it loses it's "new" or "new old stock" status and becomes a used radio---and the value plummets. I don't like buying expensive items and keeping them in a package and putting them in a closet. I guess if it's a Hot Wheels car----that's fine. Leave it in the package and look at it once in a while. With a radio, I want to play with it. Reminds me of people who buy functional, beautiful classic cars and then only drive them around on trailers. I completely understand their concern about driving the car-----as every mile devalues it and stones can fly up and chip the original paint, etc.----but that's not for me. I'd rather spend 70% less and have a car to take out on weekends and actually drive it! Likewise----this radio, in good used condition, for $250-300 bucks---would be more appealing to me---I could use it for a few years, sell it and maybe make a buck.

Well it was listed with a BIN price of $1275 OBO - he received 7 offers on over 600 views and didn't accept any of them, so I doubt it'll go for much more than $1000 or $1100.

But yeah, I'm with you on the idea of buying a new vintage radio - I have no desire to collect something and stare at it.
