Imperious is to Invicta is what Acura is to Honda, a sister company that offers more luxury. In the case of Imperious, sapphire crystal, rather than "flame fusion," is often offered (but not always).
The Imperious watches have a lot of shared DNA with Invicta evidenced by the Gearhead's styling cues, which remind me of the Subqua Specialty Reserve and Leviathan models.
My Gearhead arrived used from eBay from a seller who said he didn't wear it much. The watch arrived in near mint condition save some spare links, which had almost invisible scratches. The original owner's wrist must have been tiny because I had to add 6 links to fit my 7.5 inch wrist. The owner, or his watch person, took off the links in the wrong place because as my watch guy Raffi explained to me the small links were by the case while the larger links were by the clasp.
The watch is 50mm, smaller than a lot of similar Invicta models, which are about 52-54mm, but the Imperious feels solid and heavy. The bezel spins nicely and smoothly. I haven't tested the lume yet but expect it to be about average.
The color is said to be black, but I'd call it a dark oil charcoal gunmetal, very dark, almost black.
At a used price of $175, the Gearhead with sapphire crystal looks and feels like a good deal and reminds me while it's more than okay to search for used, not new, watches.
Final Note: If you do an eBay search, a lot of sellers misspell it "Gear Head." The spelling is "Gearhead."
What does a new one sell for?
