Indeed, we find great watch deals on the internet, but we sometimes don't really get a sense of the watch until we open it from the box. Case in point, the Invicta Russian Diver Reserve 0233, which I've wanted for 3 years but it cost too much, around $400 typically. Then I found a used one on sale less than a week ago.
Out of the box it looks just weird and the more I handle it and scrutinize it, the weirder it looks. One of the dangers of internet buying.
I´m not a watch fan or collector, but IMHO the Invicta´s watches are really tacky...just compare with the Seiko Sumo you posted before and the difference is abismal

Jeff,
What time is it on that Russian Diver? Is it about 5:26 on the main hands and a little past 12:30 AM on the 24-hour hand? I definitely couldn't read this watch at a glance.

I guess I should have said the 24-hour hand looks like it's a little past 00:30, since AM and PM don't apply in 24 hour time.

Here's a beautiful blue-dialed Orient chrono watch that Jeff posted about on discipleofchronos.wordpress.com.

It's definitely not homely like the Russian Diver.

Gary, the 24-hour hand is on UTC, the 12-hour hands are on PDT.

Yep, that makes sense. A 7 hour difference.

I like it, it's different :-). Doesn't look like any of your other Invictas.

I just noticed this watch lacks minute markers making it hard to read. The seconds hand is weenie, hung like a hamster. The silver plastic coated numbers look a bit cheap, like the ones on credit cards, but then Invicta never had a problem with emulating that cheap, mass-produced look.

From some angles, Sandra Bullock looks weird. From other angles, quite nice.
