Can a manly watch have a red face, or is that hue bordering too closely to pink? I have to say, I'm all in on a gunmetal watch I found with a red dial and actually, in photos, the red looks pinkish when picking up the flash. I do like the watch enough that even if I drift away from manly into metrosexual, I'm still planning on wearing it! Details to follow, hopefully later this week. For now, it's a secret among us gals.

Funny, Angelo.
I'd say this Helson Shark is pretty manly:

I owned the all-black with red dial Invicta Subaqua Specialty Reserve. Definitely manly, although I ended up liking the idea of a red dial more than the reality.

I bought an Invicta Force Master with red dial. It looked great in photos but in person it looked pinkish. I sold it.

I'm a little nervous about what Ulysses might have to say about a watch with a red dial. Did I mention that the subdials have yellow hands?

Red dials are OK. Most colours are fine, actually. Trouble is, most manufacturers don't have very good sense when it comes to using non-standard colours and almost invariably screw it up. Also note that various colours have varying degrees of rage-inducing qualities. I like blue because it is a beautiful and relaxing colour. I wouldn't mind red or yellow but these colours are proven to promote feelings of anger and/or anxiety. I wouldn't go so far as to consider them OK for daily wear unless there was some other "calming" factor at work. As something you stare at, even if only for brief moments, I think such bright colours would start to stress me out. Green is good too, for a dress watch. It's starting to become more popular.

It's interesting----because marketing research shows that for many grocery store items (particularly detergents), red is a color that people are drawn to for impulse purchases or if not impulse----purchases where there is a wide range of choices. Tide is probably the most popular detergent and they use a bright red color.

Slightly off topic, but still a discussion revolving around our manhood----has anyone else seen the Robin Thicke Blurred Lines videos on You Tube? There's a regular version (girls wearing their clothes) and an "unrated" version (same girls without clothes). Holy cow----I should have been a singer!
