One week ago I received Tecsun R-304 from dpmega E-bay shop. It cost me $16.90 for radio plus $14 for shipping.
Receiver has, FM, AM, SW1 SW2 bands, fine tuning, 220 volts AC input and work from 2 D batteries. It also has tuning leg, and mono head phone plug located at the back of the cabinet.
The cabinet of receiver is built with quality. Very solid, gray plastic little bit heavy like radio from 80th.
Antenna extends by 180 degree, not 360, and it has reason for this: - Handle of receiver doesn’t fold. The tuning mechanism is little tense with regular tuning and smooth with fine weal like more expensive radio I have. Scale is almost correct on the frequency likes most analog radio I have.
FM is just average with more than enough for local stations. FM start from 76 MHz and some stations could be finding on lower scale fm. It is usual thing for radios which FM starting at 76 MHz.
AM(MW) sensitivity is more like Sony ICF-38, but it is easy to select signals with fine tuning. Speaker has less bass than Sony and in some point it is maybe good for weak signals. I did compare two radios with side by side.
SW1, SW2: Personally I like two SW Bands. Two bands are enough selective to find strong signals without spending time.
I got a lot of strong signals at the evening even with telescopic antenna.
Not like DSP receiver, Tecsun R-304 didn’t overload with adjustment wire to antenna in the city.
Reception is strong and not wobbling like cheap radios.
In my conclusion: Good selectivity and sensitivity. AM,SW bands, nice old school build quality, fine tuning and even 220v for traveling with extended FM and many hours on 2 D batteries. I wish I could buy radio like this for this price in my local electronic store.
