When I bought Tecsun R-304 it surprised me with sensitivity and selectivity on AM(MW).
My other Tecsun R-909 has really good sensitivity and selectivity with low noise on SW, with and speaker for such a small radio. But AM is very weak!!!!!!!
Anybody know why AM (MW )Band on Tecsun R-9700DX so good while the R-909 is so bad?
My question is: How is good AM(MW)on Tecsun R-9700DX.
With radio have similar selectivity and sensitivity compae with Tecsun R-9700DX.
Thank you.
Val
As was reported here, CCrane has fixed the medium wave AGC issue on the CC Pocket Radio (item # CCPKT selling for $59.95 on their site).
I wrote to them asking about how can one tell the difference between the old, and updated models. This is their reply:
The easiest way to determine if the CC Pocket Radio (item # CCPKT for $59.95): http://www.ccrane.com/radios/pocket-radios/cc-pocket-radio.aspx has the upgraded MW AGC is to look at the round push button presets on the front of the radio. If they are blank then they are from our first shipment. If the round push button presets are numbered the radio has all the updates.

Ten dollars more gets you the CCrane EP, which no Tecsun will equal in AM performance..

Amazon selling "Sangean SG-622 FM 12 Band Shortwave World Band Radio for $26.99 & FREE Shipping."
As per Jay Allen in a recent mail reply to yahoo group member,
"For a really inexpensive analog radio one sleeper is the long-available Sangean SG-622:
No features...all analog but decent performance for the price."
