Nice review and it's a great reminder that radios (and I'll argue watches too) don't all need to be "everything" to everyone. Especially for people who collect---who have the luxury of having different radios for different purposes----I like the idea of a pocket radio like this that is good for talk, inexpensive, easy to carry. I guess if you are only going to have one or two radios, one or two watches----you have to strike a perfect balance and find items that can span across large spectrums to meet a lot of different needs. But if you are going to have as many as I do----it's okay to have radios that fill a small niche and only get used occaisionally----are perfect for that small need and maybe not so good for anything else.

This reminds me what a bargain pocket radios are. You can get a workable pocket radio for the price of watching a movie or two. For that price you get years of music, news, and even emergency information that could save your life. Where else in our Information Age could you get so much data for so little?

The audio isn't bad at all with a decent set of headphones. With my trusty old PortaPros it sounds quite full, and has quite a bit more output than the vast majority of today's wimpy "walkman" type radios.
The rest of it's mostly spot on, though.
