Addressing my complaint that I worked hard to get my watch collection down (thought the Seiko Tuna would cure me but the "cure" only lasted a month), Jonny writes:
Al Pacino said it best: "Every time I try to get out, they just pull me right back in!"
Would you rather have one $1,100 watch like a Seiko Golgo 13 Limited SBN023 or 3 watches?
The Orient M-Force Scuba, about $490, the Seiko FlightMaster, about $230, and the Citizen Eco-Drive Promaster BJ2135 (shown above), about $380. Total: $1,100.
Or buy all for $2,200 and re-direct Herculodge's focus to "Manly Pens."
Too bad I sold my silver version of the FlightMaster, the SNAB67 (see below). I sold it during my oversized fashion era when I thought my 44mm FlightMaster was too small. It was very toolish with strong lume. I also like the black one featured here. These FlightMasters can be purchased for about $225.
The Amazon site says the FlightMaster has sapphire, but this is an error. It uses Hardlex crystal.

One of my students asked me to recommend a watch for her father, a surgeon in Japan. She wanted to spend no more than 600 dollars, so I recommended the Seiko Sumo. She kindly called me a "watch otaku," an obsessive. I am also a radio otaku.
Here's the interesting thing: Otaku is a Japanese term for an obsessive, geekish person. My favorite watches, upscale Seikos and Orients, are made in Japan. My favorite radios, Panasonics and Sony's from the 1960s and 1970s, are made in Japan.
I should add, as Angelo reminds me, I drive a Nissan Maxima and my next car would have to be an Infiniti, Lexus, Nissan, or Honda.
