I'm feeling this black Citizen Eco-Drive Navihawk JY8035-04E. I saw one on TV during a football game today. I wish it had sapphire instead of mineral but at around $385 on eBay with atomic time-keeping and a nice 48mm case, it seems like a good travel watch.
I like the looks of the all-analog Citizen Eco-Drive Blue Angels World Chronograph AT8020-03L. It has a sapphire crystal, is radio controlled, and goes for a little over $400 on Amazon.

There is a slightly more expensive version with a bracelet (AT8020-54L), but I prefer the one with the blue leather strap.

So now we've come full circle; you, the guy who buys a watch every couple of weeks, want the watch that I've been wearing for a decade and a half..

Sounds like a recommendation.

Indeed, but I favor the first-gen Blue Angels model, which has the same layout as your Flightmaster, but with the slide ring moved to the bezel and some digi screens thrown in, seen here: http://images.bidorbuy.co.za/user_images/346/598346/598346_121129231736_JN0040-58L-3.jpg

As long as it doesen't need "motion" to keep time. I'm done with Kinetics and similar watches----and also closing the door on automatics (will keep that door cracked open slightly for "can't live without" purchases). But I'm frustrated with the Kinetic. Maybe if it was my only watch----or one of two or three watches----I could live with it. But seems like lately, every time I go to wear it, the time is wrong. Last week, I wore it a good day and a half and figured that would have charged it enough for at least a month or so of timekeeping. Wrong. Put it on this morning and noticed the time was off by hours----had to reset. Wearing it now. I don't like being ordered around by a watch. This is too much work. Not a good idea for collectors.
