Wow -- this is truly probably the only one of its kind ever seen in this condition/new status. My own 9000 I acquired from Europe two years ago also came pretty much new in the box, but not unopened and went for well over $4,000 U.S.

Um. Okay.

A stock photograph and not one of the actual radio itself? Yeah, there is some cachet in it being an unopened box, but there's no telling what the condition of the radio is inside. Could be a pig in a poke.

Up to almost $9000. Unreal.

WOW, 13,433.00 final bid. My 9000 is super clean and complete, but no box. Wonder if the new owner is going to open the box? if not, he or she is a fool. Panasonic shipped those radios loaded with batteries, there are 12D and 2AA already in the radio from the factory, but the plastic tabs have to be pulled away from the contacts prior to using. The radio was offered "AS IS", but should be protected by PayPal or Ebay. There is a good chance that the battery compartment is corroded and if the radio was left in severe cold atmosphere, there is also a good chance it won't work at all. That micro chip is not available and can not survive a cold snap. Good luck to the new owner, jack ass!

This is a catch 22 situation:
If the new owner opens the box, there will be no claim in the event there is something wrong. The new owner bought the concept of new in the box item. It don't matter what is in the box. The seller is protected more than the buyer. A mediator would have to rule for the seller no matter what. There is probably a RF-9000 in that box, but it's a risky transaction for the buyer.
