Tip if you like LL Bean----go to E-Bay and look for new old stock. I've found great LL Bean bargains there, including new with tags (but old style) Made In USA/Made in Maine flannels! And at JC Penney prices (or sometimes even better). Hard to find Made In USA clothing these days. All my jeans are from Diamond Gusset and their prices aren't bad----and the jeans wear like iron.

I LOVE my wool Filson double Mackinaw - and it's red plaid, like a flannel shirt. Can't recommend Filson's merchandise highly enough!

That said, LL Bean and Cabela's have fine flannel shirts too.

Check the Filson web specials on their page for shirts that run $30 on up. Some of their classics don't go on sale much, but sometimes you get lucky!

Ive been purchasing my flannel shirts from Duluth Trading Company lately. Their Free Swinging flannel shirts have armpit gussets that allow for more freedom of movement. Quality, and price, is right up there with L.L. Bean. They also sell the most indestructible work pants around - Fire Hose Work Pants. http://www.duluthtrading.com/

Tom: You've sold me on another item! First was a Casio G-Shock---bought that after reading one of your comments and haven't looked back. I love it and find myself turning to that watch for the "rough days" at work and on weekends. Now, a Pendleton shirt. I didn't need a flannel (because I'm set with Tom James, Ralph Lauren and LL Bean---but based on the picture you painted of the Beach Boys, I went for a beachy/short sleeved Pendleton----something I'll put in the closet until my next Endless Summer. Actually looks a little like something the older Beach Boys would wear (They tended to wear more athletic fitting stripes when they were young---this one is a loose beach shirt with a palm motif, "Aruba, Jamaica, etc." for the, ummm..."better fed" Beach Boys). Found it on big clearance markdown because this ain't the season for that shirt~~~but my patience will pay off once it's Springtime!

Angelo, to complete your Beach Boy look, you'll need a Penney's Towncraft tshirt, Levi jeans, and Jack Purcell's gym shoes. Oh I forgot, a St Christopher's metal (I still wear mine), and a surfer nickname, mine was Alphie. BTW, Nobody my age still surfs
