I am Jeff McMahon. I teach college English, I'm married to a middle school English teacher, and we have a "rescue" dog, Gretchen, with special emotional needs, though I imagine we're now just as dependent on Gretchen as she is on us. [email protected]
As a Kansas City Chiefs fan for over 40 years, I am still in shock over what happened on Saturday. I'm pulling myself together to try to enjoy the rest of these games, but man, it's going to be tough.

Angelo - it could be worse - you could be a Lions fan.

Or a Dolphins fan...like me. Oh well, it's not like it's been 40 years since we won. Umm......wait......never mind.

Brandon: The Lions will improve with a new Coach.
Dave: My 9 year old is a Dolphins fan so I have been following them. What an awful way to end the season----they looked so good beating New England and then simply had to beat the Bills on the road or Jets at home to get in the playoffs----and dropped both games. I like Tannehill a lot----I believe he's for real. This was only his fourth year playing QB (two seasons in college and two in the pros). The guy is still learning the nuances of reading defenses, feeling pressure and stepping up, etc. If he had the right coaching, he's going to be really, really good. I thought Joe Philbin did a decent job considering the mess of the "bullying" scandal----that is, unless Philbin himself encouraged it. If he did, and it comes out in that report, he might get axed. But if he is cleared----the fact that they pulled to 8-8 and played through this nonsense as well as they did means he turned in a nice job. Put an NFL line in front of Tannehill and watch the fireworks. He had no protection this year----was a complete sitting duck within a couple seconds almost every play----and never pointed fingers or complained----in fact he complimented his line when the team won, even though they won in spite of the poor pass protection. Maturity----and mobility----and a very decent arm will take him a long way.

Yeah, it was a frustrating stretch run, for sure. When we won that game against the Patriots, I was so sure I'd get to watch at least one playoff game. Ah, but it was not to be. I'm a realist, and the chances of us going deep into the post season were slim & none, (and slim just left town...lol), but stranger things have happened. Oh well, LET'S GO CHARGERS!!

I was 3-1 in my predictions last week - I only got SF-Green Bay wrong, as I thought the Packers would be able to upset the 49ers in the cold weather and at home.
Next week is hard to predict. You'd think the Broncos and Patriots would be easy choices but the Chargers have been playing well and one should never underestimate Peyton's ability to choke. And with the Patriots-Colts there's always the Andrew Luck factor. What a player.
The other two games are toss-ups.
