I got my Orient Saturation Diver today, a real Rolex killer if I ever saw one (photos tomorrow hopefully), but I didn't have time to adjust the bracelet, so I wore my Seiko Sumo while taking my family to Long Beach Aquarium. I find the Sumo and the OSD to be very similar. The OSD is thicker, but I actually prefer the lume dots on the Sumo. My guess is I'll keep both.
I'm trying to wean myself off the Las Vegas 55mm fashion watches, so my wife indulged my neurosis and photographed me wearing my 47mm Seiko SpeedMaster so I could see "how big it is."
Our five-year-old couch, a combination of microfiber suede (holding up fine) and imitation leather, is a lesson in what not to buy. While the craftsmanship of the couch is decent with sturdy cushioning, the whole purchase was ruined by its imitation leather, which started peeling off within a year.
I went to an upholstry store today and the owner said most of his business is from hapless customers who made the mistake of buying couches with imitation leather. He wanted me to photograph the damaged pleather and send him a jped for an estimate, which could be several hundred dollars.
Another option is to buy patches or "liquid leather," which you paint on the couch. I don't know which route to take. All I know is I don't want to spend another $1,500 on a couch. Any suggestions?
It looks like Whistler, the radar detector company, has picked up the rights to manufacture GRE scanners. Dave (N9EWO) passed this info on to me. Here is the info on his web site.
