I pretty much agree with the article. By definition, a watch "collector" has multiple watches----so there is no reason to be married to a specific watch or even a specific brand. If you collect, you have the option of wearing whatever you're in the mood for at that moment, on that day. Further, what I consider to be my "favorite" watch or brand might not be the one I'd recommend to somebody else. Just because I like Tauchmeister/Aeromatic for example----doesn't mean I'd suggest that line to a friend who tends to wear watches primarily for business meetings. I might push him toward a Seiko dress watch or a Movado, depending on price----or a nice brand I like, Belair. Now when it comes to cars----most of us don't have a collection----but one primary car and maybe one or two others. In that regard, it might be easier to name a favorite brand (even though I have a hard time doing it). But once again, my favorite brand (probably BMW at the high end, KIA for affordable, Saab if they still exported to the USA----and perhaps Ford or Chrysler as an "American" brand, although Chrysler is now Italian owned)----my favorite brand(s) really don't matter if I'm recommending a car or truck to someone else. I'd go with THEIR situation, budget and needs, not mine.

Here's an article on the new Seiko Astron GPS watches. Unlike radio-controlled watches, these GPS-controlled watches should be able to set themselves in any timezone.
