I heard the author of Haunted Empire today on KCRW's Market Place. The book takes a critical look at Apple and Steve Jobs. I was surprised to see a deluge of negative reviews on Amazon and wonder about the reviews' authenticity.

Apple is a religion to many. Mention anything you don't like with an Apple product, or even something you think could be changed, and The Faithful come out of the woodwork to tar and feather you.
I got that when I suggested it might be nice if I could hide the useless Game Center on my iPad. The Faithful's standard response, when you suggest the slightest little improvement, is "If you hate Apple so much, buy Windows!" Maybe that's why most people do.

God damn Apple defenders are everywhere...despite the fact that Apple repairs are expensive, you're stuck buying parts from only Apple, and on iTunes their royalty rates are low. Did I mention Apple is a hassle to deal with.
For the most part, corporate America has turned its back on Apple's computers except for a graphic department hidden in a basement or closet somewhere.
