I was watching the video below and the gentleman, showing an Ecozilla with Suppa adapter, explained, with some self-deprecation and resignation, that he falls in love with a watch, falls out of love, and then flips it. I realized that watch guys like myself are prone to this motif.
I have no Swiss ETA movements, but I asked my dealer what it would cost to service one. He said at least $300. I do have a number of Miyota movements such as the 9015. My dealer said such a movement costs about $150 to service.
I'm really loving the Deep Blue Master Explorer with its unique sunray dial. I love it in gray, black, and orange, and would love to have all 3 colors.
LA Observed reports that KPCC should have a stronger lineup soon with John Horn of the LA Times doing an arts entertainment segment and KCRW producer moving to KPCC as well. The daily show should start in the fall and will have a podcast.
These changes are welcome. Two years ago, KPCC lost Madeleine Brand to KCRW in a debacle, they got rid of their Pat Morrison show and after the venerable Larry Mantle we now have two hours of bland programming, BBC and The World (the latter is repeated on KCRW at 3 P.M.).
With these changes at KPCC, I'll probably renew my membership.
To update my favorable first look of the CCRadio 2E, I'm getting such good FM reception on the DSP-enhanced FM that I only have to raise the telescopic FM antenna about one-fourth its maximum height. This evidences improved FM performance.
While I like this model, it has too much in common with Citizen BJ2135 Promaster, so I'm going to pass and continue with my hiatus from buying watches.
I went to an Islands restaurant in Palm Desert with my family over vacation. There is a healthy choice section on their menu, but I was feeling burger, so I went with this thing called the Kilauea, which has jalapeño black pepper encrusted into the patty, pepper jack cheese, and chipotle aioli, among other things.
While I love my current 10-watch collection and I am not possessed to get anything at the moment, I know boredom will eventually set in and I'll want to shake things up with a new acquisition. Maybe around my birthday, late October, I'll get something. Anything on the horizon?
I'm ashamed to say with my Sumo history (buying, selling, re-buying, selling, re-buying), I miss my rare bracelet version of the EcoZilla. While the original no longer exists, I could get a rubber EcoZilla and buy the Suppa bracelet that comes with the adapters. The cost would be under $500.
