Do you know what is included in the service? My wife's Rolex stopped running correctly. For around $600.00-700.00, Rolex's factory techs did whatever they do to the movement as maintenance----cleaning, lubrication? They also buffed the gold and stainless to like new appearance and put a new crystal on. The watch was sent out from a higher end jewelery store near Washington, DC----not exactly low rent, so I'm sure they profited just for sending it to Rolex's authorized service center. I thought that was a value. Are these services mandatory at certain intervals?

This is basic service and I'm assuming nothing is wrong with the watch except for it's running a bit fast or slow and needs to be lubricated. Repairs are a whole other matter. Rolex, Breitling, and Panerai services are in the thousands. That's a rich man's game.

Yes, and that makes me think in my case, there was nothing mechanically wrong with the Rolex even though it was running funny----it just needed the lube.

Jeff, Here's one you'll probably like (other than the high price).

Very nice but out of my price range. I couldn't afford the watch or the service.
