This ended up selling for eighteen bucks, plus shipping. Somebody got a great deal on a long range, nice sounding radio. I don't really mind the mod either. If I didn't already have a Superadio, I might have been a player in this auction. As it is----maybe I should have bid 20 bucks to try to steal it----just to have it around.

People generally missed on a few items:
(1). The locals use British electrical connections (I'd wager that 90ish percent of the readers would not be from the UK)
(2) possibility of power surges
(3) grounding
(4) lightning protection
(5) an unun for long wires ( a few got this)
(6) some kind of plastic insulator for long wires
Most of this is cheap and simple to deal with - in advance. 8 foot grounding stakes would be hard to carry with, and finding a power strip that in-takes via a UK connection and has US plugs on it (for the radio and a battery charger) would be perfect, but I have no idea if such a beast exists!
