Interesting radio to build New Tecsun am radio:
on Amazon:

Jim Rittenhouse

Went to the store yesterday (finally) and picked it up; no offer of a $10 coupon, and I had to push the clerk a little to find it...his attitude was 'well, then there's this shortwave one -is that the one that you're looking for?' Yes it was, and yes, I walked away with it, some $35 lighter (after tax and whatnot) and it looks good. Problem was that my 14 year old daughter had gone through all of the AA batteries when I got home, so I need to get to the store today.

It seriously looks good. I have a roll-up antenna (along with a outside quality mini-whip and a PAR end-fed EZ SWL longwire) so that lacking isn't a problem, and there's extra earphones around, so ditto, but the AC adapter would be useful - though I prefer to keep RFI down and use batteries instead when possible.

So I'll report back, and yes, there's still plenty of these around at Radio Shacks in the local area (western Chicago suburbs). Still the other two at the Naperville store I picked this up from on Ogden Avenue and Naper Boulevard, and at least one in a lot of other stores I checked in the area. Call ahead and check with the store and see, so long as you have their inventory number in hand - saying Sangean 505 or DX-402 will not connect with the clerks. Mine automatically expected that I was looking for some sport radio.

I hate to say this, but I have been told by a reliable source that RS will more then likely be completely out of business by the end of the year.

Amazon has a few of these units left for a mere $35.
