The amateur blogger, like this one, has a passion for high-performance radios and "manly watches" and in my case I don't mind spending money on these items and reviewing them, talking about them, sometimes even rhapsodizing about them. Blogs connect niche groups to their shared interests, form connections, share information, and help further their hobby, and this is a good thing.
However, a blogger should also realize that when he posts the latest gadget and gets excited about some object or other he is fanning the flames of consumerism and this can be to his own detriment as he becomes an ad man to himself.
What a gift to the ad industry. Why market amateur bloggers when they're spending their own time marketing items to themselves?
Bloggers of watches and other expensive items may be well served to take pause and include more philosophical posts, comedy attempts (however lame), or other literary tracts, which don't require a purchase.
Seiko, in particular, is counting on your consumerism and free advertising. Don't let them down.
