Once upon a time, the Dallas Cowboys won two Super Bowls under Head Coach Jimmy Johnson (after the team had hit rock bottom). Owner and Coach couldn't get along, so owner replaced Coach. The Cowboys managed to win one more Super Bowl, largely on auto pilot from the Jimmy Johnson era. After that, things have never been the same. The 49ers current success is largely due to Harbaugh. They got a nice win over my Chiefs on Sunday. If they fire him, it's at their own peril.
