Manliness starts with the man. A lot of guys who wear "manly" watches don't seem to realise this. For example, I cannot say if the big-watch craze is waxing or waning, but I see quite a few skinny teenagers wearing what amount to anvils on their delicate wrists. It looks silly to me. Watches should be regarded as clothes in the sense that you should choose something that fits and flatters your build.

I think it's an attitude equation too. If you're comfortable/confident wearing the watch, it works, even if it's a big watch on a small wrist. If it's a gift from someone and you're uncomfortable wearing it----that shows----it comes across as being awkward. In the end, with all the access we have today to get the time----phones, computer screens, etc., a watch is fashion as much as it is function (for most people at least). Earrings, bracelets, rings, neck chains, watches----accessories.

So ultimately, the reason you're going to attempt to get fit is so your watch looks proportionate? That's quite a knot of logic..

The same reason a guy buys a bigger house to accommodate his brand new 100-inch plasma flat screen TV. Yes, it's quite a knot of logic.
