My C.Crane Skywave radio unexpectedly arrived today just as the formal reviewers were doing their evaluations. This one's a keeper. Have to concur with the positive reviews - Ccrane appears to have gotten most everything right on this one; especially compared to the AR1733 (which I own and can directly compare) the performance on all bands is exemplary. Particularly for me, living in an RF-saturated area where wideband radios lacking tuned RF stages tend to overload and bleed MW all over the place, ths Skywave keeps most of this well concealed. In contrast to the AR1733 the AGC action is powerful and effective, so that daytime fringe MW signals produce volume nearly equal to the nearby blow torches. Also for a DSP radio it is remakably devoid of the weird noises, tones, and other artifacts I'm used to hearing on MW/SW with small Tecsun DSP sets. At first blush a very worthy upgrade to the CCrane SWP but priced significantly higher.
I just won a $200 gift certificate in C Crane's Christmas contest. Should I get this radio, or the CC Radio 2e?

I'm impressed with the 2E, but I haven't tried the SkyWave.
