Was it a first edition Tom Sawyer signed by the author that they sold to you for $5.99 Tom? Apparently they let some valuable things slide through their fingers! As I was reading that story, the first thing that popped into my mind was whether or not he would give a portion of his profits back to Goodwill. The story said he did---but he wouldn't disclose how much. I wonder if I was in his position, what I would do? If I was reasonably well off financially, I think I would give them $1000.00, which I think is very fair. People might say "He sold it for $35,000 so he could afford to give more." My opinion is that he's not obligated to give anything to anyone---and $1000.00 is a lot of money. That would probably be my decision, a grand.
