My next watch quest may be for something that does not exist. Here's what I want:
A watch similar to Panerai in a 46-48mm case.
Sapphire
Superluminova
High-grade Japanese movement
Expensive alligator embossed leather in red, orange, or tan (I could always upgrade later)
The closest thing I can think of, the Benarus Ti47, is sold out.
My favorite Ti47 is unavailable.
The good news is I'm in no rush. I can sit back and wait till I feel convinced by something.
Magrette makes a lot of nice looking watches with a cushion style case. Unfortunately they seem to be smaller than you want (44mm).

I like this one in particular:

Gary,
Jonny owns this. It's close to what I want, but I'm waiting if something else shows up:

Jeff,
Yeah, I saw the Flyback in some of Jonny's YouTube videos. I like it. The sculpting on the case is impressive when viewed from various angles. Overall, I think I like your Promaster Sky a little better -- although I prefer the silver one -- but if you've got money for both the Sky and the Flyback, I can definitely see the appeal of each.
Here's one of his videos that shows the amazing design of the Flyback (I'm sure you've seen this):

Gary, funny you should mention the Citizen Promaster Sky SS. That's the watch I'm most dying to spend my money on.

Jeff,
You seem to be on the cusp of a watch buying binge lately. Choose wisely, my friend.

I'll keep my eye out, Jeff, although nothing quite comes to mind except for the Grand Touring on leather and that isn't quite right (plus it is 44mm, I believe).
I think you'd like the Flyback, but it also isn't huge - 44mm. 46-48mm is a tough size to find as most watches are smaller or larger.

As much as I like those watches, I'm more drawn to the SS Citizen Promaster Sky, which will probably be my next watch.

Sounds good. I find that while I like having an all-black watch, I almost always prefer the stainless steel.
The SS is cheaper, I believe.

Jeff,
Do you want the stainless steel Promaster Sky or the silver-colored titanium version?
Posted by: Gary | January 31, 2015 at 08:11 PM
Gary, I would probably get the titanium version for 700: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Citizen-Promaster-Sky-BY0080-57E-Eco-Drive-Solar-Atomic-Perfex-Multi-3000-Watch/231149268698?_trksid=p2050601.c100272.m3467&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140813112422%26meid%3D2ff6c43cdacd4e7980b98d5f37377965%26pid%3D100272%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D121373689492%26clkid%3D3762875918605549566&_qi=RTM1963931

What about the Citizen Grand Touring sport? This one sold but it has some good pictures. It isn' quite what you're asking for, but you could get a good leather strap for it and it would be close. Ish.

I like it but don't love it. I may in a year buy a 45mm Jazzmaster silver dial for my "gents" watch or I'll buy a 47mm Panerai-like watch if Benarus makes o
