Jeff,
This shows the color of the watch fine, but the camera seems to be focused on the table or the bricks most of the time.

To keep the watch in focus use a tripod on your video camera. Also use a "polarizing filter" to reduce or eliminate reflection from the watch.

Are camera tripods universal or adjustable to fit most compact cameras? And do most Canon Powershots like my S4 have the polarizing filter? Clearly, I'm a newbie. Perhaps it's time for a new camera.

Amazon has a good deal on the Seiko SNE109 solar dive watch today ($124.99). I call this one "the pumpkin."

Regarding the polarizing filter, this is something you screw on in front of the lens. I'm not sure if the Powershot S4 has filter threads on the front of the lens or not. If it does, you'll need a circular polarizer of the proper diameter. Polarizing filters are actually two filters in one unit. You rotate the front filter to minimize reflections or to darken the sky.
Regarding tripods, almost all cameras have a standard 1/4-20 socket on the bottom that will attach to the 1/4-20 screw on the tripod.
