For many years, I assumed I enjoyed the heavy weight of a watch on my wrist, that the heft gave me a sense of security, but I'm re-thinking that assumption now that I'm wearing the lightweight titanium Citizen Promaster Sky. There's something to be said for a watch that is so light and comfortable you don't even feel it on your wrist. The watch that is swinging its bat on the on-deck circle is the stainless version of the black one shown here.

I'm glad you finally see the light, Jeff. I prefer lighter watches because they're more comfortable to wear, and they don't tend to flop around on my wrist. I never understood why people like heavy watches. To each his own, I guess.

Perhaps there is a macho component to proclaiming to the world that one desires a heavy watch on the wrist. All I know is that today, I was feeling the heaviness of my Moray Dart and was relieved to switch it for the titanium Promaster.

You keep referring to the other Promaster Sky as stainless, but it's actually titanium, if you're talking about the BY0080-57E. Stainless is a material, not a color.

What happens when you switch from the Benarus Megalodon to the titanium Promaster Sky? That must be a huge difference in weight.

I meant color. Should I say silver? I'm a bit colorblind.

Good question. I'd call it silver-colored titanium, but I haven't seen anyone selling the watch specify a color. I guess it's sort of natural titanium color.
There's another Promaster Sky version (BY0085-53E) that's actually made of stainless steel, but it doesn't seem to be widely available currently. It has a white background on the date and timezone wheels, which I think doesn't look as good as the black on the one you have and the other one you want.

To justify acquiring the titanium Promaster, I may have to sell my Seiko SBDL021, which I like quite a bit. However, I doubt I'd wear it if I had the new Promaster along with my current black one.

You could always do it in reverse: buy the silver Promaster and see if it pushes the Fieldmaster out of rotation.
As for watch weight, I've definitely come to prefer a lighter watch - my two non-chrono Seamasters are both light and so comfortable, although just enough weight to know they are there. The Seamaster chrono is comparatively heavy but is nice for variation. The Zixen and OSD just seem too heavy.

I used to think that a light watch, even one of expensive titanium, would feel cheap, but the Promaster has removed that concern.

It's just a matter of time before I get the other Promaster. I'll decide if I'll sell the SBDL021 at that time.
