Amazon is selling the Seiko SRP627 with 47.5mm case for under $305. Very good price.
For a smaller version at 43mm, the Seiko SRP307 is selling for $170, the cheapest I've seen.

These price drops may be due to the changes in the currency exchange rate between the U.S. dollar and the Japanese yen. Good times for watch collectors who like Japanese watches.

Is the SRP627 in any way superior to the SRP307, in terms of quantifiable elements? I believe it has the same movement, bracelet, fit and finish, etc.

Similar watches and same movement, but here's what I don't get: My SRP307 was about 3 minutes slow a week whereas my SRP627 doesn't seem to run slow at all. I wonder if there is some quality variation in the movement.

My Seiko SSA051, with the 4R37 movement, runs about 4 minutes fast per week. I have a feeling it's just a case of Seiko not spending enough time regulating these watches before they send them out the factory door.

The former Governator has his own watch brand:

Some of these watches are huge.
