Jeff,
Put the watch on a window sill that gets indirect sunlight for as long as it takes to get the power meter up to high. I say indirect sunlight because placing it in direct sunlight for a long time can make the watch get very hot.

I'm not really on board using "specimen" to describe a watch. It sounds more like a bodily fluid that is sent to a lab for analysis.
