I'd say my default watch is the Casio G-Shock AWG-M100A ana/digi, which I'm sure has zero appeal for you or Jonny. I like it because it's relatively small for a G-Shock, it's comfortable to wear and it looks good with the analog hands (all of my other G-Shocks are digital).

The watch I've been wearing the most in the past few weeks since I received it is my Citizen BJ2128-05E depth meter watch.

P.S. In your video I think you said the Promaster Sky is a Seiko rather than a Citizen.

Been a reader for a year or more, and enjoy the eclectic content, but started and continue as a fellow watch obsessive of about four years duration now - my budget is probably in a similar range as yours, and interestingly we seem to be have evolved into having somewhat similar taste in watches - I'm pretty much a diver style fan, more in the "toolish" style and also more in the automatic style mechanically - I'm not into diving nor did I ever work in that industry, but just appreciate the design esthetic......anyway, I suspect we could go in for hours about how we got to this point in our mutual watch obsession, but when I saw your post today on the SRP637K, I just had to drop you a note to say I also recently acquired this watch (much to my wife's displeasure, as I seem to share that characteristic with you as well), and also find it to be the watch I'm going to regularly, as the kind of epitomy of this class of watches (and remotely in my budget assuming I continue to sell off all my earlier styling "mistakes" - that's also a story for another day).....I did dump the bracelet right away, although it at least had solid end links, and put it on a Strapcode "oyster" bracelet ( I see you chose the end-mill version) and I switched the clasp to their superb ratcheting dive clasp, so I can adjust the fit thru the day as my wrist size changes during hot and cold activities.....I think the oyster styling makes the overall look just slightly more "dressy", if that even makes sense with this type of watch, and the end-mill might have been just a bit too heavy looking for my wrist size......anyway, I'm guessing we will both eventually migrate to another "favorite" before too much longer, because that's what watch obsessives do, right, but thought it was interesting at, at least for now, our story arcs of obsession have intersected at the same watch......keep up the good work, the videos are a little different and I still enjoy the written word, but the mix is interesting, also enjoy the radio tech talk as an old Army trained field radio mechanic.....Take care......Charlie

Charlie, that SRP637 is quite something, isn't it. I wonder how you'd feel about its cousin, the slightly smaller SRP307. I feel I may have to re-buy that one. I had a Strapcode oyster bracelet once but found it to be too conservative in its styling.

I actually have its "second cousin", the first gen SKX779K, which has the non-hacking, non-hand winding movement and the rectangular (not the "megaladonish" shark tooth) hour markers on the dial.....both have 20mm lugs widths that Seiko has made appear more "massive" by flaring the bracelet at the lugs to about 22-23mm - the bracelets then reduce to 18mm I believe - I thought the polished/brushed combo look was a bit blingy and put on the Strapcode Super Engineer 20mm with the ratcheting dive clasp, which works well for me and looks more toolish......I think the end mill is just a bit too massive for my wrist size (quite a bit smaller than yours, I'd guess), otherwise I do like that design as well......you might want to consider a segment on bracelets/straps - I have gradually come to realize that for me, the bracelet is a VERY significant part of the overall watch experience, and I'm always thinking about ways to move them around in my collection for a new look - as you pointed out, they can give a watch two very different esthetic appearances......and it's great that we obsessives have those distinctive feelings - otherwise we'd all have ended up wearing exactly the same watch, right ?.......getting everyone's "take" (and disagreements) on various watch looks is half the reason I bother reading all the watch blogs.......Charlie

Jeff, what do you think of cheaper diver watches such as the blue Mako or Ray by Orient?

They come in black too.

Most likely an outstanding value, especially for anyone looking for a 41mm diver. My only concern is the crown on the cheaper models. Is it going to last? I stripped a crown on a 300--dollar Orient M-Force and have a difficult time engaging the crown on it. In contrast, the Orient Saturation Diver, a 1,300K watch, engages easily. So does the Benarus Moray with the Miyoa 9015 movement. But at 135 dollars, I doubt you can go wrong.

I don't know that I even have a favorite current watch. I have sentimental favorites---gifts from loved ones, etc. But for pure "Which watch do I like the best for form and function" I don't know. I think in some ways, that's a good thing.
