Here's a new range from Seiko. The cases are beautifully contoured and finished, but the jury is out on the garish colour options and plastic bezels.

Ulysses, not bad but I'm not in love with them. Do you having any news, good or bad, about the Seiko SBDX00 MM300? It has captured my imagination during the last month or so.

I think it's handsome and solidly built. I wouldn't mind wearing one but our tastes differ and I would probably go for something else. The other thing is, as you mentioned in one of the recent videos, you're basically going for watches with very similar looks. Essentially you're making tiny upgrades from a cosmetic standpoint. Quality-wise there is a difference but even cheap Seikos have never been awful in that department, so it wouldn't be a very tangible difference. It's as though each upgrade is another rung on the ladder climbing towards that ultimate diver, the form and name of which we still don't know.
People are always yearning for something better. We should perhaps value watches more for what they are than what they fail to be, much as we see ourselves. As people we are all unique individuals, and despite the fact that we can't really be "upgraded", we still have inherent worth.
If I were you i'd wait a few months and see if I still like that MM300. You might find something else catches your eye. If a watch lacks enduring appeal, would you really want it?

If I still want the MM300 in late October, then I'll assume it's more than a caprice.
