Gary has apprised us of Jay Allen's Sangean PR-D19 radio review. The verdict:
Strong FM
Over average AM
Speaker sound is too bass heavy even though earbuds
Overall a great value, currently $66 on Amazon.

I ordered one and will report on it (if anyone is tired of reading about watches).

OK, I've used a PR-D19 for a week, and my report is not good. The audio bandwidth is too limited even in the wide mode to make it listenable. Especially on AM talk radio, voices sound muffled. While everything else was fine, I didn't feel the performance matched the price, and I returned it today. Not recommended.

Ed, I suspected the PR-D19 was part of the Sangean Muffled Series. I'm glad I didn't get it. The PR-D4W, in contrast, is well balanced from the one speaker, even less muffled than my now fried Sangean WR-2 (fried during power surge).

I just ordered a Tecsun PL880 which among other things is said to have great audio. Will report on it soon.

It sounds like the audio design of the PR-D19 was done by the same folks who did the muffled treble/bloated bass audio of the PR-D5. Too bad.
