Er,WR-50...haven't had enough coffee yet😊.

I hear you. New radio models have bugs. It's good to wait for the bugs to come out if ever.

Ed S.

A miracle happened this weekend. The 24/7 AM interference I've been experiencing for years now just...DISAPPEARED. Totally clear reception on all radios now! I don't know what changed... I didn't change anything.... God, I just hope it stays like this. Keep your fingers crossed.

I wonder what happened, Ed.

Gary

Ed,

Maybe a bad SCE transformer?

My neighbor had a bad laptop power supply that nearly obliterated my AM reception, even on the strongest stations. Basically, it injected hash onto the power lines, far and wide. One day, I noticed the interference disappeared right before he went to work. A couple days later, we tried out my theory that one of his devices that he takes to work was the culprit. Once he replaced the power supply, the interference level dropped about 99%.

Gary

Jeff,

I don't see any reviews of the WR-50 on Amazon.

Gary, I wish I could make room for one in my home or replace a current radios, but everything is working well.

Anyhow, I bought an Amazon Tap. This is a wonderful high-tech radio that has near-perfect speech-recognition. If you want an alarm clock, just tell it to set an alarm for a certain time. If you want to hear news, local weather, just say the word. Want to hear any song, just say the title... Stream any radio station ( helps to have an Amazon account and a smart phone to use the Alexa app). It's portable, too. ( but you must be in a wifi signal area)
Incredible technology, and decent sound too, for only $110 (at a $20 discount). I'd advise all radio fans to checkout this next step up in convenience and technology. I think you could find room for this in your house, Jeff... It's about the size of a can of beer.

Ed, I like the part where you can just tell it when to wake you up. My wife will like that.

Hey Jeff,

Last week, around the same time I discovered your blog, I was waiting for my new Sangean WR-50P to be delivered. I unpacked it a couple days ago, and just posted a brief review of it on Amazon (link provided below if you're interested). Short version: I loved my WR-2 and this beats that one by at least a factor of 3. Hope this helps your other readers—there's an odd shortage of online reviews for this model.

Hey Jeff,

When I discovered your blog last week, I was waiting for my new Sangean WR-50P to be delivered. I unpacked it the other day and just posted a review of it on Amazon. Not sure why there's such a dearth of user-generated content about this radio, and even from publications. In light of that, I wanted to share my own experience with it so far.

Short version: worth every penny, and then some!

I hope this helps your other readers, too.

Anyone tried the Sangean WR-50P yet? Any opinions? I'm trying to decide between the WR-50P and the WR-22. I like the NFC and stereo with the slave speaker in the 50 but the flat form of the 22 appeals to me.

herculodge

I haven't tried the WR-50, but both the WR-50 and WR-22 have DSP so FM performance will be strong on both. The WR-22 has a wire FM antenna, which in some ways is better because it won't bend, snap, or get loose like telescopic antennas will do after a while.

Mac

Thanks, I didn't realize that the WR-50 had the telescoping antenna. Your Sangean reviews have been very useful.

herculodge

You probably can't go wrong with either of those two Sangeans.
